Exciting news! DBstreamer, AsterionDB’s unique software that enables the streaming of media from databases, has just received patent protection from the US Patent office. The patent inspector found the software module to be a unique new technology with no comparable prior art. The invention, created by AsterionDB founder Steve Guilford, is among a suite of database enhancements at the heart of the AsterionDB Software’s technology portfolio.
The effect of the patent is that the abiltiy to stream objects from a database (including video) is now protected technology owned by AsterionDB (US
Patent # 9740779). Veteran technologists will recognize that “streaming from a database” has rarely been attempted - until now. The reason -- without AsterionDB technology the hardware and software performance is not good enough to offer advantages. Now that’s all changed. DBstreamer handles streaming of very large obejcts with less system overhead and at lower costs than traditional methods of storing and streaming media and unstructured data.
AsterionDB’s patented technologies enable everyone from business users to developers and security professionals to use database technology in a revolutionary new way to improve workflow, boost security and lower costs. At same time, our customers gain more agile development and improved security through unified access to any content - all under the unique control of their database environment.
