The AsterionDB team has just done some initial test deployments of our Unified ECM capabilities on the Oracle Cloud. While we were always confident that our software modules would work well on premise or in the cloud, we weren't expecting the red hot performance we got from our first clicks.
Our CTO/CEO Steve Guilford uploaded a large folder's worth of files to push the system: videos, sound files, PDF's, spreadsheets..and more. Everything smoothly uploaded and the metadata extractions were flawlessly presented. Check. Now the question was how easily could any and everything be retrieved. The PDF's and documents flashed up into his browser pretty much instantly. The real test was to see how it would handle a large HD video file streaming at 14 Mbits per second.
He clicked. We watched. Success! The image initiated and started streaming very very quickly. We had to compare. Was Asterion faster to start a video stream than YouTube or Amazon? We got out a spread sheet and started logging tests. In our sampling, we were twice as fast to the screen as Amazon or Youtube - even on our smart phones.
What we have discovered is that our software can turn an Oracle database in the cloud into a high performance streaming server. A validation of both Oracle and AsterionDB. We're now looking forward to serving clients with a SAAS solution that may exceed the performance of all the competition.
